We help people follow Jesus and grow in his service.
We will be a New Testament Church living life together as a spiritual family
advancing the Kingdom of God and making disciples.
CONNECT - GROW - SERVE
The church is to live joyful lives of faith by connecting to Jesus Christ and His
followers through the gospel, growing to a mature faith through practice of spiritual
disciplines and multiplying disciples by serving our community through following our mission
and using our discipleship process.
Connect emphasizes the importance of worship, prayer, and fellowship in our every day lives. Connect means to be in vital relationship with God, other believers, and our church family. It reminds us of the priority of building positive, long-lasting relationships with people at work, in the school and community, and at home.
As we connect first with God, He makes it possible for us to build meaningful relationships with other believers; they, in turn, help us connect to a church family. These interconnected relationships enable us to welcome people who are not yet part of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
Connect also moves us outside the walls of the church and into our community and world. Jesus said to go make disciples of all the people of the world. He empowered us, by His Spirit, to be witnesses. The mission of taking the Good News to the world is certainly one that demands urgency. That is the commission we have - rescuing people who are living far from God, of sharing with them the hope of eternal life through faith in Christ.
Grow means knowing and obeying God's Word and understanding how it makes a daily difference in our lives. Gaining knowledge is vital, but we need more than information. The Scriptures teach us that we are to mature or grow in Christ. A new believer is like a newborn baby. There are things that will both help and hinder his or her growth. At Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, we believe is is our God-given mission to foster growth in maturing believers so they can realize their fullest potential in Christ.
Serve reminds us of our responsibility to work alongside fellow believers. A maturing believer is a serving believer. Jesus reminded his followers on the eve of His death that no servant was greater than his master. He then humbly washed the feet of His own disciples. The message was unmistakable. If Jesus, the very son of God, could serve, we ought to do so as well. part of our mission as a church, therefore, is to help believers discover their spiritual gifts and help them find ways to use them to serve both God and their fellow man.
